Remember that each exhibitor is required to attend TWO 2-hour work parties during the year in order to exhibit rabbits or cavies in the Kitsap County Fair. You must contact the barn superintendent well in advance if for some reason you are unable to do so.

Barn Work Party Saturday, March 19, 2011

There will be a barn work party on March 19, 2011 from 8:00-10:30am to prepare for Spring Fling.

4-H rabbit & cavy members planning to exhibit at the county fair in August must participate in at least TWO 2-hour work parties during the year.

Wear work clothes and bring scrub brushes, cleaning rags, and tools. Be sure to label things with your name so you won't lose them.

This is the same day as public presentations, so be sure to schedule your presentation on either Friday, or later in the day on Saturday.

Kitsap County Spring Fling Rabbit & Cavy Show

Open to all 4-H members enrolled in the rabbit and cavy projects.

Show Schedule:
8:00-9:00 Vet Check
9:30-12:00 Type Judging
9:30-12:00 Fitting and Showing
12:00-1:00 Lunch
1:00... Resume Activities

Entry Fees: $3.50 for first animal, $2.00 for each additional animal, $1.00 extra per animal for late entries. There will be no fur class.
Make checks payable to Kitsap County Rabbit & Cavy Leaders Concil (KCRCLC). Please fill out entry form completely and accurately. There is no limit to the number of animals an exhibitor may enter.

Primaries (grades K-2) are welcomed for non-competitive Fitting and Showing and Type Classes designed especially for them. Participation ribbons will be given.

Concessions: The concession stand will be open all day. "Box Lunch" can be paid for with entry--$3.50 for hot dog, chips, and drink. Breakfast, lunch items, and drinks served a la cart from 8:30am-1:30pm.

The partial list of workshops includes:

Carry Cage Making ($30 per kit) Must be ordered and paid in advance. The cages are to be completed during Vet Check hour, so plan to arrive early.

Primary Rabbit Workshop

Junior & New Rabbit Member Workshop: Breed Identification Tips and Practice Booth, Body Types, Basic Health Care, Getting Ready for Show

More Advanced Rabbit Workshop: Genetics, Table Writing, English Spots, Physiology of Internal Organs

Cavy Workshop

Vet check will begin at 8:00am. Workshops will begin at 8:55am sharp.

A concession stand will be available for lunch and snacks. Funds help benefit the Rabbit & Cavy projects.

At the conclusion of Winter Clinic, there will be a game time just for fun.
